Prices are per diver and exclude equipment. A dive that you are not certified for will not price: it is not a matter of asking nicely.

Nearly every shark encounter on earth is a seasonal affair. Fuvahmulah's tigers are resident: the same animals, over the same shallow sand off the harbour, in every month of the year. Briefed and guided in small groups.

The island's own wall, and where most divers begin. Thresher sharks pass the day at depth and rise at first light to be cleaned in the shallows, which is why the dawn boat is the one that finds them.

Off the shelf altogether: no bottom beneath you, no reef to take hold of, and nothing in view against which to judge your depth. Buoyancy becomes a matter entirely your own, which is what the Advanced card and the fifty logged dives are truly for. Oceanic whitetips, and whatever else happens to be passing.

Ask any dive centre on Fuvahmulah for three tiger dives in a single day and the answer will be no. They are not being obstructive: no one operator may sell you more than one. Two limits govern what is possible here, and set against one another they yield a number most divers are never offered.

Non-negotiable
Each exists for a reason, and none bends for a booking. They are enforced as the trip is built rather than at the dock, so a combination that breaks one simply will not price: a considerably better place to discover it than the Maldives with your bags already packed.

Each dive centre takes you once a day. Three operators, so three is the most that is possible.

Fuvahmulah does not run them. Nobody on the island will sell you one.

Equipment rental: $10 per item per day, or $30 per day for a full set. One rental day covers three dives.
Before you dive
Certification details, insurance and the signed waiver are collected at checkout rather than on the island. That is deliberate: if something is missing we would rather find out while you can still fix it.
We also take sizing then (height, weight, shoe, wetsuit and BCD) so rental gear is laid out before you arrive rather than guessed at on the dock.
Who runs the boats
All three are approved partners, and all three run tiger dives. Every dive is held and paid through Off Grid Holidays rather than direct, which is the only way three operators fit into one day, and one booking.

Common questions
A dive off the shelf entirely: no bottom beneath you, no reef to hold, and nothing in sight to judge your depth against. Without a fixed reference, depth is read from instruments alone and buoyancy is entirely yours to manage, which is what the Advanced certification and more than 50 logged dives are actually for. Oceanic whitetips and other pelagics pass through. $120 per diver.
Two separate rules compound. Each dive centre will take a guest on one tiger dive per day and will not sell a second. The island separately caps every diver at three dives a day, counted across all operators rather than per centre. Three tiger dives is therefore the physical maximum, and reaching it means booking all three of Fuvahmulah's operators for the same day.

Open Water is sufficient for both the reef dive and the tiger dive, which surprises most people: the tiger dive is shallow, over sand, and guided in small groups. What it is not is a sheltered house reef: currents run, and every entry is made from a working harbour. The gates are enforced on certification and logged experience rather than on goodwill, so a dive you are not qualified for simply will not price.
